Hard-boiled eggs are good by themselves. Bacon is good by itself. So why not wrap ’em together? These little bacon bombs are simple, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor. They’re perfect for breakfast, snacks, or tossing on a plate with some grits.
I’m deep in my bacon era right now, and these are one of the easiest wins in the holler. Just eggs and bacon — though you can fancy ’em up with a little cheese or sausage if you’re feeling it.
Ingredients (makes 6)
- 6 hard-boiled eggs
- 6 strips of bacon (cut in half if needed)
- Optional: shredded cheese or cooked sausage crumbles
- Toothpicks (optional, to hold bacon in place)
How to Make Bacon-Wrapped Hard-Boiled Eggs
- 1. Hard-boil your eggs. I like mine a little soft (about 6½ minutes), but cook them 9–10 minutes if you want them fully hard.
- 2. Cool the eggs completely and peel them carefully. (Pro tip: Poke a small hole in the bottom before boiling — makes peeling way easier.)
- 3. Wrap each egg with bacon. You can use a whole strip or two halves. Overlap slightly and secure with a toothpick if needed.
- 4. Optional: Sprinkle a little shredded cheese on top or stuff a bit of cooked sausage inside for extra goodness.
- 5. Preheat air fryer to 380°F. Place the wrapped eggs in the basket (bacon grease will keep them from sticking).
- 6. Air fry at 380°F for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bacon is crispy and golden. (I ended up going closer to 20 minutes because I like the bacon really done.)
- 7. Let them cool just a minute, then dig in while they’re hot!
Holler Tips from Cletus
- Keep an eye on them the first time — air fryers vary. Start checking at 12–15 minutes.
- Want them even crispier? Finish under the broiler for a minute or two.
- These reheat great in the air fryer or microwave. Perfect for grab-and-go breakfasts.
- Turn leftovers into deviled eggs by slicing them in half and scooping out the yolk.
